Tensilica Intros the HiFi Mini DSP Core with IVR Capabilities
January 07, 2013
Tensilica (News - Alert), a provider of dataplane processor IP cores, is offering support to voice trigger and speech command modes with the introduction of the HiFi Mini DSP (digital signal processor) core. The HiFi Mini DSP is optimized for the smallest area and lowest power in smartphones, tablets, appliances, and automotive applications.
The new release enables a hands-free experience and includes various features such as speech command recognition, voice pre-processing and noise reduction for its users.
Tensilica is collaborating with Sensory and other software partners to provide these features on the HiFi Mini DSP (digital signal processor) core, which has been optimized to be as small and power efficient as possible for voice trigger and voice recognition. The HiFi Mini DSP core uses compact 40-bit encoding and is optimized for voice and audio codecs.
“Using Sensory’s Truly Handsfree voice control technology, HiFi Mini is able to achieve less than 88 uW of power for the core in 28 nm HPL, achieving both the lowest power consumption and uncompromising accuracy for speech recognition,” said Larry Przywara, Tensilica’s senior director of mobile multimedia, in a statement.
Tensilica has scheduled the availability of its HiFi Mini DSP IP core for March 2013. The company intends to showcase Sensory’s Truly Handsfree voice trigger and speech command products on HiFi Mini at the CES (News - Alert) show in Las Vegas this week.
Recently, the company was in news in November 2012 for announcing a partnership to provide designers with a comprehensive hardware/software licensable IP solution for LTE (News - Alert) and LTE-Advanced chip designs.
